After reading my post on potential, someone asked me how I define success. My answer was simple, "I try not to". Usually I try to think in terms of satisfaction, achievement, and goal accomplishment. Success is not definite enough to just "have" a definition because its meaning will change as much as you do. Success is relative to where you are in life and what you're exposed to.
Success is not defined by bullets on a resume. When you're successful, hype can be a cliche and a liability. Your success will be defined by what you did, just as much as it is by what you didn't do. I believe the reader was looking for something tangible and formulaic, but that's not what success is at all. Success should be your own, not to be constrained within someone else's definition.
I can't tell you what the end product will look like, but I can tell you that success begins when you no longer have to ask...

Great answer! I am a strong believer in defining ones own success and happiness. People tend to compare their success with others, not realizing that in the long run you will never feel successful. Someone will do something that you never thought of and maybe trump your actions but that doesn't make your accomplishment any less successful. As you stated, success should not be defined.

Go for someone who makes you smile because it takes only a smile to make a dark day seem bright.
