Some Reason vs. Curiosity

I observed a fairly New Manager giving direction to his team and particularly noted the phrases below:

"For some reason, the schedule did not generate correctly so you'll have to manually add them in"

"For some reason, they are still appearing in the system although they no longer work here so you'll have to go back in and delete them"

"For some reason, the computers are printing everything sideways so you have to insert the paper upside down and then flip it over.

I've never met Some Reason but it sounds like Some Reason is a big ol' bully.  Some Reason pushes people into tight spaces between rocks and hard places and forces them to do additional work.  In fact, if I ever did meet Some Reason on the street, I'd probably try to tar and feather it.  That probably wouldn't work because I hear Some Reason rolls with an entourage that consists of even bigger bullies: Lazy, Complacent, and Status Quo.  So I may be outnumbered...

The good news is, I found out that Some Reason has an Achilles Heel

Turns out that Some Reason falls at the mercy of our friend Curiosity.  Not only is Curiosity's only role to help you; it also serves as a catalyst for finding answers and discovering new ideas.  If I ever saw Curiosity on the street, I'd probably bottle it up and distribute vials on Ebay to the highest bidders (don't worry, there's enough for everybody).  Curiosity rolls with a pretty powerful crew as well: Action, Clarity, and Success.

So now you know.  Don't let Some Reason bully you anymore... No excuses.

Kiersten, who wonders why people still settle for "Some Reason"
